There’s so much new music being released that it’s hard for even the most loyal fans to wade through the trash to find the gems. That’s why we’ve created #BumpThis – a Friday series that features new songs, by and featuring Nigerians, that you absolutely need to hear.
Tolani — “Maybe Baby
Tolani, an immensely gifted singer, kicked off 2019 with the Reekado Banks-aided “Ba Mi Lo, which deservedly became a modest hit. Since then, she’s dropped other equally great tracks, the latest being the hypnotic “Maybe Baby.
On the sultry r&b track, which will hit anyone who hears it with a wave of nostalgia, Tolani sings about wanting to get down with a sexy stranger. Like every song she’s dropped so far, “Maybe Baby proves Tolani is a singular talent.
Kah-Lo — “Exit Sign
Since earning a Grammy nod for her work on Riton’s “Rinse & Repeat“, Kah-Lo and the English producer have been inseparable, dropping amazing singles and a joint LP, Foreign Ororo. Now, she’s flying solo on her new track, “Exit Sign
On the club-ready bop, her official debut single, Kah-Lo paints a picture of a wild night out — she loses her friends, drinks too much, dances with a complete stranger — and she manages to make all that messiness sound amazing.
Buju — “L’enu
With the Zlatan-assisted “Spiritual — one of the very best Nigerian songs of the year so far — ‘Rookie of the Year’ nominee, Buju announced himself as a rising star to watch, and now, he’s back with another infectious single, “L’Enu.
On the confident track, Buju asserts that he’s created yet another banger, and he’s not here for anyone who refuses to vibe to it. Sure, it’s a pretty cocky sentiment, but it’s one he always manages to back up.
